Hello everyone! My name is Lainie Michel. My husband Seth, is this rare gem who grew up on a farm near the Amish and I have never heard him say a curse word (even though he was a Marine!) I have three daughters ages 25, 21, 19, and a son, 6. I have been in performing arts for many years, play the guitar poorly, and love designing! For several years now I have lived in; I believe, the coldest part of Iowa-very similar to the Antarctica. Having lived the previous 18 years in Southern California, I am hoping I will someday adjust. However, I think the only thing that keeps me sane through these endlessly freezing winter months and upcoming swampy-summer heat waves, is creating. Although I started scrapbooking in Dec, 2012, I have always been somewhat artistic. The difference with scrapbooking, I have found, is that capturing and personalizing a moment, then framing it with ones own perspective gives a different weight and meaning than other mediums, it’s like visual poetry. As I am new to this art form, I am interested in soaking up all the information I can. Additionally, I keep a keen eye out for innovative and beautiful new techniques and watch intently those who spearhead the trends and movements. Lastly, I have so much respect for this community. This is one of the few arenas in which people altruistically encourage and lift each other up. The world needs more of this. I am so impressed with this aspect that I feel I always want to be a part of it.
