Here is a tag that I created for Shona's Mixed Media Tag Challenge at Flying Unicorn. I really loved this challenge because I have been itching to create a tag, as I have only made one other last Christmas. I seem to be using a lot of blue lately, which is really odd for me - but I am really loving the range.

Here is the back side of the card, I made a pocket and put a photo/journal card inside.
I first prepped the Graphic 45 tag by mixing up some texture and color, I didn't overmix because I wanted a variegated color. Then I added some stamping and hand-stitched around the perimeter.
I layered lots of elements, an assortment of goodies I had in my stash, like the bird's nest and some chipboard from My Minds Eye "Oliver" collection. I also used a couple of pieces from Bo Bunny "The Avenues" Noteworthy.
I stained the seam binding to the color I wanted and added a little rose. And the piece de resistance was this lovely chipboard tree from Creative Embellishments; interestingly, this tree is part of the "Creepy Trees" set, but I think they are just beautiful!
I hand died the lace and added some gold Stickles for a little "oomph" and then I splattered some water color paint and touched everything with a hint of gesso because too much would have looked like the bird had an accident...heehee.
On the back of the tag, I printed out one of my all-time favorite poems by Edna St. Vincent Millay, title God's World - it is such a treasure.

Thank you for stopping by to see me - I hope you have a wonderful day!
